Wild Flowers

Wild Flowers

Lesnes Abbey Woods has three protected areas labelled WF1, WF2 and WF3 on the map that are fenced off so that the public cannot enter them. These are the Wild Flower enclosures where the daffodils, bluebells, anemones and other wild flowers can grow without being trampled on.

The borders of these areas are kept free of brambles and light restricting trees like holly so that the wild flowers get the warmth and light from the sun that they need to thrive. In late January you will find council workers with strimmers cutting back the undergrowth so that the bulbs can sprout and put on their show.

The best areas to see the daffodils and bluebells are also marked.

Where to go

When to Visit

The best times to see the flowers are shown on this chart. Exact timings can vary but if you visit at the peak times you are sure to see the flowers. There is a short point where daffodils and bluebells are out, but neither are at their best at this time.

Remember to follow the country code, respect the habitat of the wildlife and protect and save it for future visitors.

Please do not pick the wild flowers - leave them for others to enjoy. Note that it is against the law to pick wild flowers for profit or to up-root them.
